Important: Shipping is not possible without Iqama (Residence Permit for Expats) or Bataqa (National ID for Saudis)! De Haan cannot arrange a Residence Permit for expats (Iqama) or National ID for residents (Bataqa) for Saudi Arabia on your behalf! However, we can assist with the necessary customs documents for your household belongings. Once you've decided what to do with your possessions, we're here to help with our expertise in customs paperwork and door-to-door moving services. Extra considerations when moving to Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is an Islamic country, and moving there is subject to Islamic laws with strict regulations. Keep in mind that:

• Photos, books, videotapes, CDs, etc., are subject to thorough inspection by customs. Books related to religions other than Islam are prohibited.
• All gambling items are forbidden to bring along, including chess sets, backgammon, dice, etc.
• Military uniforms or equipment are prohibited when moving to Saudi Arabia.
• Alcohol is strictly forbidden! This includes cooking wine or other cooking ingredients containing alcohol, as well as books about preparing alcohol.
• Even a Christmas tree and Christmas decorations cannot be imported.
• Cars older than 5 years are not allowed, and cars with the steering wheel on the right side are not allowed at all.

These are just examples of import rules to consider when moving to Saudi Arabia, and regulations may change. For diplomats, different rules may apply. Therefore, no rights can be derived from the above. Always check with your Move Coordinator at the time of your move to find out the current import rules for household goods in Saudi Arabia.
